Veteran 25-year reiki instructor Petra Nicoli begins each seven-hour course by talking through the history of reiki and its techniques, following the elegantly simplified usui tradition. Petra's level-one reiki classes let students begin practicing giving and receiving reiki energy, feeling the benefits of increased relaxation, creativity, and ability to correctly identify larceny culprits midway through police procedural episodes.

After certification in the rudiments of reiki, students take home a meditation CD for further practice, helping brains stay on the path to wellness with encouraging affirmations.
